Marbled Ceramic: A Pendant With Timeless Natural Character

The Nakaii Pendant in Marbled finish is a 20cm wide handmade ceramic pendant with the timeless visual quality of hand painted marbled stone. The swirling tones of cream, warm grey and natural stone are applied individually at Mullan Village before firing. No two pieces carry an identical pattern. Suspended on 1m of cable, the pendant has a confident, sculptural presence above a dining table, kitchen island or in a bedroom or hallway where a pendant of genuine craft quality is wanted. The G9 bulb sits directly within the ceramic shade, directing warm light downward into the room.

How It Works

The open ceramic shade faces downward, directing the G9 bulb's light into the room. Without a glass shade the marbled ceramic does all the visual work, the tones reading differently in natural daylight compared to warm evening light. Compatible with dimmable G9 LED bulbs. A warm white dimmable G9 suits the marbled finish well, the layered depth of the surface showing most clearly at lower evening light levels.

The Marbled Nakaii Pendant suits dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways and living rooms where a pendant of genuine decorative quality is wanted without the scale of a larger fitting. Its timeless marbled finish works across a very wide range of interior styles and pairs well with natural stone, warm timber, aged brass and soft neutral textiles. Group two or three above a kitchen island for a considered, cohesive scheme.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the marbling technique by drawing on the layered stone and mineral textures of the Irish landscape surrounding the village. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.

FAQs

What bulb does the Nakaii Pendant take?
It takes a G9 bulb, maximum 6.5W. Bulb not included. A warm white LED G9 suits the marbled finish well. A dimmable version gives full control over the atmosphere in the room.

Will my pendant look exactly like the photo?
The marbling is hand painted so the pattern on your piece will differ from the photos. The tones will be consistent, cream, warm grey and natural stone, but the character of the marbling is unique to every piece.

Can the cable length be adjusted?
The pendant is supplied with 1m of cable. Your electrician can adjust this during installation if a different hanging height is needed.

Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable G9 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.

Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
