Mullan Manila Rattan Small Wall Light with Finish Options

The Manila Small Wall Light Puts an Adjustable Arm to Work

This wall light pairs a brass arm with the same small rattan shade used on the Manila Small Pendant, but instead of hanging fixed it can extend from 45cm to 65cm in height and project between 60cm and 80cm out from the wall. The 20cm wide shade sits at the end of the arm, so the whole fitting can be drawn in close to the wall or pulled out and angled toward where the light is actually needed.

How It Works

The arm is genuinely adjustable, not just decorative, so you can extend it further into a room or fold it back, and angle the shade up, down or sideways to point the light exactly where you want it, whether that is onto a book, a headboard or a stretch of wall. Inside the shade, a single E27 bulb shines out through the woven rattan for a soft, textured glow, and the fitting is dimmable when used with a dimmable bulb.

Where It Works Best

Its compact 20cm shade and adjustable reach make it a natural choice either side of a bed in place of a table lamp, in a hallway where floor space is tight, or beside an armchair for reading. Because the arm moves, one fitting can cover several different tasks over its lifetime.

The Story Behind Mullan

Architect Mike Treanor founded Mullan Lighting in 2009 after restoring a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan, Ireland, turning the old building into a working design studio. Today that studio employs more than 100 craftspeople and sends its lighting to over 55 countries. The Manila range, worked in natural rattan, is part of the studio's ongoing focus on natural, sustainable, biodegradable materials.
