Blue Earth, Small Scale, Natural Colour
The Coco Wall Light in Blue Earth brings the layered teal and ocean tones of the blue earth finish to the compact Coco form. At 10cm tall and 10.5cm wide with a 19cm projection, it delivers genuine natural colour and handmade quality on a wall at a scale that suits rooms of all sizes. The blue earth finish is applied by hand at Mullan Village, County Monaghan, building up differently across every individual piece before firing. In natural light the tones read as cool and aquatic. In the evening with a warm G9 bulb inside, the deeper blues and greens within the glaze come forward and the fitting takes on a warmth that no plain shade can offer.
How It Works
The open ceramic shade faces outward and slightly downward, directing the G9 bulb's warm light across the wall and into the room. The blue earth tones catch in the light and shift visibly as the quality of light in the room changes through the day. Compatible with dimmable G9 LED bulbs. A warm white G9 brings out the richest, deepest tones of the blue earth finish most effectively in the evening.
Where It Works Best
The Blue Earth Coco is well suited to bedrooms, hallways, bathrooms adjacent to dry zones and smaller living rooms where natural colour on the wall is wanted at a compact scale. Used as a pair either side of a bed it creates a calm, considered bedside lighting arrangement with real personality. The blue earth finish pairs naturally with natural stone, pale limewash plaster, warm timber and brushed or antique brass hardware.
The Story Behind Mullan
Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the blue earth finish as a translation of the blues and greens of the Irish landscape into a hand painted ceramic glaze. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass. The studio distributes to more than 55 countries.

FAQs
What bulb does the Coco Wall Light take?
It takes a G9 capsule bulb, maximum 5W for this finish. Bulb not included. A warm white LED G9 is recommended to bring out the richest tones of the blue earth finish in the evening.
Will the colour look exactly like the photos?
The blue earth finish is hand applied in layers so the exact depth and distribution of colour varies naturally between pieces. The photos give a reliable guide to the overall tone but your piece will have its own particular quality of colour.
Is this suitable for a bathroom?
The Coco Wall Light is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not certified for bathroom wet zones. Please contact us if you need a bathroom rated wall light and we will advise.
Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable G9 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.
Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
