Mullan Bog Oak Wall Light - Matte White Striped with Finish Options

Matte White Striped: Clean and Considered on Any Wall

The Bog Oak Wall Light in Matte White Striped is a 28cm handmade ceramic fitting with a graphic, considered quality that adapts to a wide range of interior styles without ever feeling out of place. The matte white ground and fine stripes are applied by hand at Mullan Village before firing, each shade painted individually rather than machine applied, which means the striping carries a natural variation that sets it apart immediately from anything standardised or mass produced. It is the wall light to reach for when you want genuine handmade quality without committing to a strong colour or material.

How It Works

The open ceramic shade faces outward and slightly downward, washing warm light across the wall surface and into the room. The matte white striped body reflects light cleanly at the surface, brightening the immediate wall area while the stripes add texture and visual interest that a plain white fitting could never offer. A warm white dimmable E27 LED is recommended for the most flattering result with this finish.

Where It Works Best

The Matte White Striped Bog Oak Wall Light suits bedrooms, hallways, living rooms and dining rooms equally well. It pairs with virtually any wall colour or material combination, and works particularly well in rooms with natural stone, pale timber, warm whites and soft neutrals. Used as a pair either side of a bed or mirror it adds a light, precise note to the wall without competing with anything else in the room.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. The matte white striped finish reflects the bleached stone and whitewashed plaster of the historic buildings surrounding the village. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass. The studio distributes to more than 55 countries.

FAQs

What bulb does the Bog Oak Wall Light take?
It takes a standard E27 screw fit bulb, maximum 40W. Bulb not included. A warm white LED E27 works well with the matte white striped finish. A dimmable version gives full control over the mood in the room.

Will the stripes be perfectly even?
No, and that is intentional. The stripes are hand painted, which means there is natural variation in width and spacing across the surface. The overall impression is clean and graphic but up close you can see it was made by a person.

Is this suitable for a bathroom?
The Bog Oak Wall Light is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only, not certified for bathroom wet zones. Please contact us if you need a bathroom rated fitting and we will advise.

Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.

Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
