Matte White Striped: A Pendant With Clean Character and Real Craft
The Bog Oak Pendant in Matte White Striped is the hanging version of the Bog Oak ceiling light, the same 28cm handmade ceramic shade suspended on 1m of cable rather than mounted close to the ceiling. The matte white ground and fine stripes are applied by hand at Mullan Village before firing, which means the striping carries a natural variation that distinguishes this from anything mass produced. At 8.5cm tall and 28cm wide it has a generous, substantial presence above a dining table or kitchen island, a pendant that earns its place through craft quality rather than novelty.
How It Works
The open ceramic shade faces downward, directing the E27 bulb's light into the room. Without a glass shade the ceramic does all the visual work, the matte white striped surface catching the light cleanly and distributing a warm, focused glow below. Compatible with dimmable E27 bulbs for full mood control. The 1m cable allows the pendant to hang at a practical height above a dining table or kitchen surface, and cable length can be adjusted by a qualified electrician during installation if needed.
Where It Works Best
The Matte White Striped Bog Oak Pendant is well suited above a dining table, a kitchen island or a breakfast bar where the 28cm shade creates a proper presence overhead without overwhelming the space. Group two or three above a longer surface for a cohesive and considered scheme. It also works well as a single pendant in a bedroom, a living room reading corner or a hallway where a pendant of genuine craft character adds more to the space than a standard fitting. The matte white striped finish pairs with virtually any interior palette and hardware finish.
The Story Behind Mullan
Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. The matte white striped finish reflects the bleached stone and whitewashed plaster of the historic buildings surrounding the village. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass. The studio distributes to more than 55 countries.

FAQs
What bulb does the Bog Oak Pendant take?
It takes a standard E27 screw fit bulb, maximum 40W. Bulb not included. A warm white LED E27 suits the matte white striped finish well. A dimmable version gives full control over the atmosphere in the room.
Can the cable length be adjusted?
The pendant is supplied with 1m of cable. Your electrician can adjust this during installation if a different hanging height is needed. We recommend discussing the ideal height with your installer before fitting.
Will the stripes be perfectly even?
No, and that is intentional. The stripes are hand painted, so there is natural variation in width and spacing that distinguishes this from anything printed or mass produced. The overall effect is clean and graphic but up close you can see it was made by a person.
Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.
Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
