Is clear glass better than coloured?
Not better, just different. Clear glass is neutral and shows the most light output. Coloured glass (amber, smoked) changes the character of the light. Choose based on the mood you want, not brightness.

Will the black show dust?
Satin finishes hide dust better than gloss, but in a dusty environment any black surface becomes visible over time. Regular light dusting keeps it looking sharp.
