A Glass Fronted Glow for the Patio
Meribel takes an unusual approach to outdoor lighting. Its open frame and glass panel design make it look almost like a small display case holding a lantern rather than a typical solar light, and a builtin motion sensor means it can light itself when someone walks by.
How It Sits In The Range
This portable version is the freestanding tabletop piece in the Meribel collection, sized to sit on a patio table, step or ledge rather than mount to a wall. Mantra also makes a wall mounted Meribel with solar charging and the same sensor function, so if you need a fixed light near a doorway rather than a movable one, that version covers the same job in a different format.
How It Works
A 3.5W integrated LED delivers around 300 lumens at a warm 3000K colour temperature, with a CRI above 80 for reasonably accurate colour rendering outdoors. Power comes from an onboard solar panel, so there is no cable to run, and a builtin motion sensor triggers the light automatically when it detects movement nearby. A touch switch lets you override this for manual control when you want it. The fitting is rated IP54 and Class III for electrical safety, and built from die cast aluminium to handle life outside.
Where It Works Best
Meribel Portable is designed to move around as needed, on a garden table, along a step, or beside a pool edge, anywhere you want automatic light without running power out to a fixed point. Its sensor makes it useful for lighting a path edge or marking a step after dark, and because it charges itself from daylight, it needs no maintenance beyond occasional cleaning of the solar panel.
Made By Mantra
Mantra's product development has not stood still since it started in Valencia in 2000, and Meribel's solar and sensor technology is part of that continued push, sitting alongside decorative, technical and ventilation ranges in its current catalogue. The company picked up external recognition for this kind of thinking in 2024, when designer Nacho Timon's modular track fan design won Gold at the regional ADCV design awards, built with components designed for separate recycling and some recycled or sustainably sourced materials. It is a fair indicator of the design and engineering thinking Mantra puts into fittings across its outdoor and technical lines, including Meribel.

Questions People Ask
Does this light need to be plugged in?
No, it charges through its own solar panel, so there is no cable or mains connection needed.
How does the sensor work?
A builtin motion sensor switches the light on automatically when it detects movement nearby, and a touch switch is also there if you want to control it manually.
Is it safe to leave outside permanently?
Yes, it carries an IP54 rating and an aluminium body built for outdoor use, though like any solar light it performs best with reasonable sun exposure to keep it charged.
