The Alerta is a solar powered PIR wall light built for the moments you do not want to fumble for a switch, whether that is coming home after dark or checking on a noise at the side gate. It charges through the day and works through the night, combining a dusk to dawn photocell with motion detection so it only goes bright when something moves into range.

Choosing How It Behaves

This fitting comes in one weatherproof black finish, so there is no colour decision to make here. Instead you choose how it behaves. Leave it on constant low glow for a gentle all night presence, or switch to motion activated mode so it jumps to full brightness the moment its sensor picks up movement within range, then fades back down once the coast is clear.

How It Works

Inside the housing sit 416 individual 0.2W SMD2835 LED chips wired as a single built in light source, rated together at 22.3W for an output of 2000 lumens. A PIR sensor covers a detection arc of 120 degrees out to around 8m, paired with a photoreceptor that knows when it is dark enough to arm itself. Power comes from a 5.5V 1.3W polycrystalline solar panel angled to catch daylight, charging two 1.2Ah (2.4Ah combined) 3.7V lithium cells that keep it running overnight.

Where It Works Best

Mount it beside a side entrance, over a garage door, or along a boundary wall where sudden light is a useful deterrent rather than a decoration. The ABS and polycarbonate casing is rated IP64, so it copes with rain and spray, and Lumena backs it for coastal use as well as standard UK gardens.

Does it need any wiring?
No. The Alerta is fully solar powered, so there is no mains cable or wiring to run, just a wall mount and the included fixings.

How far will it detect movement?
The PIR sensor covers roughly 8m across a 120 degree field, enough to catch anyone approaching a door or walking along a path.

What is the difference between the two modes?
Constant mode keeps a low level glow on all night, while motion mode stays off or dim until the sensor detects movement, then jumps to full brightness before fading back down.
