A Statement Bar of Glass for Long Spaces
The Temple Rod Pendant XL is the longest of the Temple rod pendants: a single hand blown glass bar, lit from within by an integrated LED strip and hung level from two slim rods. Leverint calls the design commanding, and at this length it is a centrepiece rather than a light fitting you simply notice. This is a very large, heavy fitting: the XL is 1500mm long and weighs approximately 7.85kg, so please check it carefully against your table, island and ceiling, and the way you plan to hang it, before you order. Hung low and centred, it makes one unbroken line of light.
Choose Your Finish
Each pendant is made to order in your choice of hand blown glass and plated metal finish, chosen from the swatches and dropdowns above on this page. The glass comes in ribbed or fine ribbed, and the photos show both, with the ribbed glass casting bold lines along the whole 1500mm and the fine ribbed glass looking calmer and more uniform. Leverint plates the rods and ceiling fittings in polished brass, brushed brass, weathered brass, bronze, polished nickel or satin nickel, and you can pick the colour of the light as well, from 2700K warm, 3000K warm white or 4000K natural white. Because the glass is blown by hand and the metal is plated by hand, the colour and texture of your pendant may vary slightly from the photos, and screens show colour differently from one device to another. If you are unsure about a finish before ordering, please call our customer service team.
How It Works
The pendant has no bulb to replace. Its light comes from an integrated LED linear strip rated at 15W and 24V, fed by an external driver. Leverint's technical sheet says the driver is to be concealed within the ceiling cavity and asks customers to contact Leverint for guidance on installing it. A mains dimmer pack gives wall dimming, so the light can be turned down low for the evening. This is a hardwired ceiling fitting, and given its length and weight we recommend installation by a qualified electrician, ideally one who is NICEIC registered. The overall drop is made to specification, with up to 1000mm as standard.
Where It Works Best
The XL is made for long dining tables, large kitchen islands and open plan spaces where a smaller pendant would look lost. At 1500mm it can run along most of a long table or island in a single sweep, and it also suits a double height space or a wide entrance hall with a ceiling high enough to carry it. Smaller rooms may prefer the Medium at 1000mm or the Large at 1200mm, which Leverint makes in the same style.
Made By Leverint
Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where each piece of glass is shaped by hand rather than cast in a mould. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, G Farley and Sons, and its founders bring decades of lighting design and glass artistry to every pendant. A glass bar one and a half metres long is a demanding thing to shape, because the ribs and walls have to stay even all the way along.
