The Bexley V1 pairs two hand blown ribbed glass shades in one fitting: a wide dome that catches the light overhead and a rounded globe below it that wraps around the bulb. The ribbing scatters the glow into soft vertical lines rather than one flat beam, giving the room a warm, textured light rather than a stark point source.

The Bexley V1 ships in your choice of hand blown glass and plated metal finish, chosen when you order. These photos show it in clear ribbed glass on a brass toned gallery, but Leverint blows the same shade in fine ribbed, twisted and opaque textures too, and plates the metalwork in tones from polished and brushed brass through to bronze and nickel, so you can match it to the rest of your scheme.

How It Works

The Bexley V1 hangs on 1 metre of cable as standard and takes a single E27 bulb, up to 40W, which is not included. It's mains dimmable, so it will work with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulb if you want to bring the light down for evenings. As a hardwired ceiling fitting, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, ideally one who's NICEIC registered.

Where It Works Best

The wide dome shade spreads light outward as well as down, which suits kitchen and dining tables where you want an even spread rather than a tight pool of light. It also works well above a console table in a hallway or bedroom. Because each fitting hangs from a single point, it's easy to run two or three side by side along a run of ceiling for a longer line of light in a bigger room.

Leverint is a lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where its glassblowers shape every shade by hand rather than casting it from a mould. According to Leverint, the studio draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, and its founders bring decades of combined experience in lighting design and glass artistry. That hand finished process is why the ribbing on a Bexley shade catches the light a little differently from one piece to the next.
