One Stem, Folded Like Spring Flowers
Bouquet takes its name literally: a single folded shade, shaped and hung the way a loose bunch of spring flowers falls into its own natural form. Designed by Sinja Svarrer Damkjær and hand made in Le Klint's Odense workshop, the Bouquet 1 is the single shade pendant in a range that also stretches up to a seven shade chandelier, and it's built on the same cross pleating technique the Klint family began developing over a century ago.
Paper or standard foil
Choose paper for the warmer of the two looks. It's made in Germany to Le Klint's specification, gives a softer diffusion of light, and will develop a golden patina as it ages, so the shade changes character gently over years of use. Standard foil, Le Klint's European lampshade material, stays a cleaner, brighter white throughout its life. It's a hard PVC that resists UV yellowing, is fire retardant and anti static, and needs little more than an occasional wipe to keep its finish. Both are pleated by hand into the same bouquet shaped fold.
How it works
The shade hangs from a round, linen coloured cord, a detail that echoes the tied stems of a bouquet, with metal fixings finished in a protective coat over brass or aluminium. This particular pendant is available in three sizes: Medium (21cm high, 20cm diameter, E14 fitting, maximum 10W LED), Large (30cm high, 30cm diameter, E27 fitting, maximum 10W LED) and X-Large (45cm high, 45cm diameter, E27 fitting, maximum 15W LED). It comes with 300cm of cord, giving enough length to set the hang height to suit your ceiling. Bulbs are not included, and we'd recommend a qualified electrician handles installation of any hardwired ceiling pendant.
Where it works best
The Medium size suits a low hang over a bedside or a small dining setting, while the Large and X-Large read well as a single statement piece over a dining table or in a stairwell with height to spare. Because the fold softens and scatters the light rather than casting it in a hard beam, Bouquet works best as ambient or dining light rather than task lighting.
Made by Le Klint
Le Klint's hand pleating goes back to around 1900, when P. V. Jensen-Klint folded a shade for a petroleum lamp using the same principles as Japanese paper folding, and the family kept developing the technique as their own craft until Tage Klint turned it into a proper company in 1943. Esben Klint added the heritage Model 107 to that language in 1942, and every shade leaving the Odense workshop today is still pleated by hand, a skill Le Klint says takes new folders around a year to learn and two to three years to master. Bouquet itself, designed by Sinja Svarrer Damkjær, applies that century old fold to a newer idea: a single shade shaped like a loose bunch of spring flowers, sitting alongside other nature led shapes in the range such as the mushroom cap pleats of Lamella and the spiralling folds of Swirl.

Questions People Ask
What sizes does the Bouquet 1 pendant come in? Three: Medium (21cm high, 20cm diameter, E14 fitting, maximum 10W LED), Large (30cm high, 30cm diameter, E27 fitting, maximum 10W LED) and X-Large (45cm high, 45cm diameter, E27 fitting, maximum 15W LED).
What's the difference between the paper and standard foil shade? Paper is made in Germany to Le Klint's specification and gives a warmer, softer light, developing a golden patina as it ages. Standard foil is a hard PVC that stays a cleaner white throughout its life, resists UV yellowing and needs only an occasional wipe.
Can I hang this in a bathroom? No. It's rated IP20 and Class II insulated, so it's suited to dry indoor spaces rather than bathrooms or other humid rooms.
