Karman Maoo Cat Table Lamp - Matt White

A quiet cat, caught in the act

Maoo tells a small story: a ceramic cat appears to leap towards a glass sphere lampshade, where a mouse shaped sticker glows once the lamp is switched on. Designed by Matteo Ugolini for Karman's Zoo collection, this table version stands on its own rather than fixing to a wall.

Matt white ceramic

This version gives the cat a matt white ceramic finish, paired with black aluminium fittings and a frosted glass sphere. The contrast between the pale ceramic and the dark metal keeps the shape clear and graphic.

How it works

It's a plug in lamp: sit it on a flat surface and connect it to a standard socket, no wiring or electrician involved. The sphere takes a single G9 bulb, rated to a maximum of 5W if using LED, and the bulb isn't included.

Where it works best

Its pale, graphic shape suits calm, minimal interiors, a Scandinavian style bedroom, a child's room, or a spare hallway console where the white keeps it feeling light rather than heavy.

Karman's Zoo collection

Maoo forms part of Karman's Zoo collection, a family of lights drawn from animal characters. Karman describes its lighting as produced entirely within Italy.
