The Small Pleat Ceiling Pendant in Burgundy & Lilac is a compact, sculptural take on houseof.'s pleated pendant, its fan folded shade finished in a deep, wine toned burgundy with a soft, pale lilac underside that catches the light as you move beneath it. At just 22.5cm across, it has an easy, unfussy scale that suits close pairing rather than standing alone, and it comes into its own hung in a row of two or three above a kitchen island, clustered over a dining table, or used singly as a warm, characterful pool of light in a hallway or reading nook.

The finish

The shade is powder coated steel, pressed into fine, even pleats that run from the ceiling rose down to a scalloped edge, so the burgundy reads slightly differently depending on the angle and the light. Flip it over and the lilac inner face is the surprise, a cool, muted contrast to the burgundy exterior that softens the glow it casts downward. The flex is finished to match in burgundy, so the cable reads as part of the design rather than an afterthought. It sits comfortably with warm woods, aged brass, dark painted cabinetry and stone worktops, the kind of materials this burgundy and lilac pairing was clearly chosen to complement.

The Pleat pendant was developed by houseof. in collaboration with interior designer Emma Gurner, whose work is known for bringing tactile, retro influenced detailing into contemporary rooms. This small pendant takes the sculptural, fan pleated shade of the original design and scales it down, with the burgundy and lilac colourway added as part of a later seasonal palette alongside the brand's other pleat finishes.
