The Hinkley Wabash Single Small Wall Lantern is a compact single light fitting for an outdoor wall, its hinged door front borrowing from lanterns that once held a candle or oil flame. This mocha version pairs that traditional shape with a soft, warm bronze brown finish rather than a glossy or formal black.

The frame is cast aluminium, finished in mocha, a soft bronze brown tone with a slightly textured, matte character. It reads as understated and traditional rather than shiny, and sits well against brick, render, timber or stone.

How it works

It takes a single E27 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to add one to your order. The bulb sits behind a hinged glass door that opens for easy access, and it's dimmable if you use a dimmable bulb with a compatible dimmer switch. This is a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley founded the company in Cleveland, Ohio, as a small outdoor lantern maker whose debut catalogue held just 14 products. A lantern like this small Wabash, built around one light source and a simple hinged door, sits close to that original idea of straightforward, well made outdoor lighting. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings such as this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Is this lantern dimmable? Yes, it's dimmable if you use a dimmable LED bulb together with a compatible dimmer switch. A standard non-dimmable bulb won't dim even with the right switch fitted.
