Hand-rubbed Olde Bronze

Each arm is finished by hand in Olde Bronze, a warm, dark bronze that catches the light differently depending on the angle you view it from. Cast candle sleeve detailing at every arm nods to traditional candelabra design, while the amber organza shades soften the output into a gentle, even glow rather than a hard, direct light. The mild steel frame gives a fitting this size the weight and rigidity it needs.

How it works

This pendant takes eight E14 bulbs, one per arm, and none are supplied, so you'll need to order eight to suit. It's dimmable when fitted with dimmable bulbs. The drop is adjustable from 119.5cm to 424.3cm, which means it can be set for a standard ceiling or dropped much lower down a stairwell. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It's a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed.

Where it works best

Its scale suits open-plan kitchens, large dining rooms and double-height stairwells, where a smaller pendant would look out of proportion. Hang it centrally above a dining table or use it as the focal point in an entrance hall with plenty of headroom.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley started the business in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen outdoor lanterns. A fitting on the scale of this eight light Plymouth pendant would have been a world away from that first small range. Phil's half of the business passed to Stanley Wiedemer in the mid-1930s, and the Wiedemer family has carried the company through four generations since. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting pieces like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
