The Middlefield 2 Light Wall Light doubles up the output of the single version, in an Iron Rust finish that gives it real weathered character. Solid distressed wood paired with steel gives this fitting the look of something reclaimed rather than newly made, and the two lamps side by side suit spots where a single sconce would look underpowered.
Distressed wood and steel in Iron Rust
The Iron Rust finish sits on solid distressed wood and steel, so the surface carries a warm, aged tone rather than a flat, uniform colour. It works well against reclaimed wood, painted panelling, exposed brick or anywhere else you want a rustic, industrial feel rather than a polished, modern one.
How it works
This fitting takes 2 x E14 LED bulbs, which aren't supplied, so you'll need to add two to your order. It's dimmable when fitted with dimmable LED bulbs and used on a compatible dimmer switch. It's a Class I fitting, which means it needs an earth connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where it works best
Two lights on one wall fitting make this a good option for kitchens and dining rooms, giving a warmer, more ambient wash of light than a single sconce. It also works well either side of a mirror or console table, or anywhere you want a bit more presence on the wall than a single light provides.
The story behind Hinkley
Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. When Phil became ill in the mid 1930s he sold half the business to Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman from Kansas City, and after Phil died in 1937 Stanley bought the rest and moved his family to Cleveland to run the company himself. That family run approach carried through the generations, from Stanley's grandson Rick Wiedemer Jr, who joined the business in 1969, to Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, who began taking on leadership roles around 2000. The rustic, handcrafted character of the Middlefield collection, with its solid wood and steel build, still feels close to that small workshop starting point. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
