Olde Black finish

Finished in Olde Black over cast aluminium, the frame is shaped into twisted, scrolled detailing that echoes hand forged ironwork, while the clear seeded glass panels let light spill out with a slightly uneven, handmade quality. It suits stone, brick and painted exteriors, and pairs well with dark door furniture or house numbers.

How it works

This lantern hangs from an adjustable chain and takes 3 x E14 bulbs, which are not supplied, so you will need to add three to your order. It is dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs and use a compatible dimmer switch. It is a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley's first line, launched in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922, was a run of just fourteen outdoor lantern designs, so a hanging porch lantern like Casa sits close to the company's original purpose. Ownership passed from founder Phil Hinkley to travelling salesman Stanley Wiedemer in the 1930s, and the Wiedemer family has run the business ever since, with the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric, now involved. Around 2019 the company dropped "Lighting" from its name to become simply Hinkley, reflecting a range that had grown well beyond its original lanterns, though pieces like this one still carry that early brief. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs for UK homes, rewiring fittings such as this one for 220 to 240 volt supplies and full CE certification.
