The Astrid 3 Light Pendant Chandelier in Metallic Matte Bronze pairs an open, welded metal cage with three inner lights clustered at its centre, giving the collection's signature silhouette a warm, layered glow. It is also a genuinely large fixture, with a 50.8cm diameter and a drop that adjusts from 76.3cm up to 377cm, so there is plenty of scope to hang it low over a table or send it down a stairwell.

Metallic Matte Bronze finish

The outer cage is finished in Metallic Matte Bronze, a warm, muted bronze tone with a soft sheen rather than a high shine. Inside the cage, a second, deeper tone lines the frame around the light cluster, so the fitting reads with real depth rather than as a flat silhouette. The metal cage pairs naturally with warm woods, aged brass, and other bronze or brown tones already in the room.

How it works

This chandelier takes 3 x E14 bulbs, which are not supplied, so you will need to add your own when you order. Choose dimmable E14 bulbs if you want to use it with a dimmer switch. The three inner lights are wired from below the fitting, keeping the wiring out of view and the cage's geometric lines clean. This is a Class I fitting and needs an earthed connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Its smaller footprint compared to the 5 light version of Astrid also makes it a good fit for a living room where you want a feature light without it taking over the space.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. When Phil fell ill with tuberculosis in the mid 1930s, he sold half the business to Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman from Kansas City, and after Phil's death in 1937 Stanley bought the remaining half and moved his family to Cleveland to run the company himself. That Wiedemer family has run Hinkley ever since, through Stanley's grandson Rick, who joined in 1969, and into the fourth generation today. A chandelier like Astrid, engineered with a drop that adjusts across three metres, relies on the kind of careful rewiring and certification work Elstead Lighting has carried out on Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe since 2012, converting each fitting to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
