The Hinkley Amelia Single Mini Pendant in Heritage Brass is a compact single light pendant built for close, focused light rather than a wide spread. This finish takes the same vintage detailing found across the Amelia collection, cast glass fitter, trim ring, hinges and clasps, and warms it with a softer, aged brass tone.

The Heritage Brass finish

Heritage Brass has a muted, aged warmth that suits period and traditional interiors, as well as kitchens and dining rooms with a classic feel. The etched opal glass dome carries a prismatic bottom lens, which spreads the light evenly and softens any glare from below. Steel and opal glass keep the fitting sturdy while the surface stays soft to the eye.

How it works

This mini pendant takes a single E27 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to add one to your order. Dimmable bulbs will let you dim the fitting, though it doesn't come with a dimmer switch of its own. It's a Class I fitting, wired to its own ceiling point rather than a track or flush plate. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

Its small scale suits a kitchen island, breakfast bar or a row of pendants over a dining table, where several can be grouped without overwhelming the space. It also works well in smaller hallways and landings, where a full size pendant would feel too heavy for the room.

The story behind Hinkley

Heritage is a fitting word for this pendant, and for the company behind it. Phil R. Hinkley founded the business in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922, starting with a debut catalogue of just fourteen outdoor lanterns. The Wiedemer family took the company on in the 1930s, when Stanley Wiedemer bought in and later took full ownership after Phil's death, and by around 2000 a fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, had begun taking on leadership roles themselves. Between 2019 and 2020 the company simplified its name from Hinkley Lighting to simply Hinkley, the same period it expanded into ceiling fans, though pieces like this Amelia pendant still carry the traditional detailing the brand built its name on. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted designs like this one for UK electrics and CE certification.
