Harte Victorian 1.1m Traditional Pedestal Light - Cast Iron

This 1.1 metre pedestal light is a freestanding fitting from Harte's Traditional range, its lantern set on a cast iron post rather than mounted to a wall or pier. The design is modelled on Victorian outdoor lighting and works as a standalone feature in its own right.

Cast iron construction

Cast in iron with galvanised steel used in its construction, the post carries a lantern glazed with a hand cut glass lens and fitted with an E27 bulb holder. It comes in the standard gloss black finish, with other colours available on request.

How it works

Set on its own base rather than fixed to a wall, the light spreads out from a fixed point in open ground, giving ambient light around the post itself. It needs a fixed base and mains wiring, and a qualified electrician should handle the connection.

Where it works best

At 1.1 metres, this pedestal light works well planted in a border, at the edge of a lawn, or lining a path where a freestanding fitting suits the setting better than a wall or pier mounted light.

Harte, Irish craft since 1983

Harte Outdoor Lighting has made cast iron and steel lighting from its workshop in New Ross, County Wexford, since 1983. Founded by Willie Harte, the business is now run by Liz Harte and the next generation, Jack and Sam Harte, and Harte says the same cast iron construction sits behind lighting installed at Irish locations including Áras an Uachtaráin, Adare Manor and the K Club.
