The Thales is one of GlammFire's most distinctive suspended fireplaces, hanging from the ceiling rather than sitting against a wall or floor, so the fire itself becomes the room's centrepiece. GlammFire describes the Thales as the world's first suspended fireplace fitted with an automatic bioethanol burner, a claim that reflects how unusual the engineering behind it really is.

Design and engineering

Two independently rotating components sit at the heart of the piece. As they turn, the flame appears to move and shift rather than simply burn in place, so the fire can be enjoyed from every angle in the room. The body is finished in black lacquered steel, a deep, matte surface that lets the flame stand out while giving the piece a calm, architectural presence overhead. It reads as much as a piece of sculpture as it does a heat source.

Built for real fire without a chimney

The Thales runs on GlammFire's Crea7ionEVOPlus automatic bioethanol burner system, which manages ignition, flame height and fuel intake electronically, with a remote control and a set of safety sensors monitoring the burn throughout. Because it uses clean burning bioethanol rather than wood or gas, it needs no flue, chimney or gas line, which is what allows a suspended, centre of the room installation like this to exist in the first place. As with any bioethanol fireplace, the room should be properly and continuously ventilated, and we recommend checking the specification and installation guidance carefully before ordering to confirm it suits your ceiling structure and room size.

Where it belongs

The Thales suits spaces where the fireplace is meant to be seen from every side: open plan living rooms, double height entrance halls, hotel lobbies, restaurant dining rooms and yacht saloons. Because it needs no wall or hearth, it works as a centrepiece in a new build with an open floor plan just as well as a striking addition to a period property where installing a conventional chimney would not be practical.

Handcrafted in Portugal

Every Thales is handbuilt at GlammFire's factory in Monção, in northern Portugal, where the brand has designed and manufactured luxury fireplaces since it was founded in 2008. GlammFire states that each fireplace is assembled, tested and quality checked before it leaves the factory, and that its manufacturing process is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
