A Factory Style Pendant With Real Depth
The Brindley pendant takes its shape from old factory lighting, a wide dome that throws light down and out. In Soot, that dome takes on a deep, almost charcoal grey with a soft gloss finish, so it catches the light rather than sitting flat against a wall or ceiling.
The Soot Finish
Soot is a dark grey with a glossy top coat, hand applied over a solid copper shade. The copper shows through around the rim, where a bright ring frames the white gloss interior. That white lining reflects the light back down, so the glow stays clean and even rather than getting lost in the dark exterior.
How It Works
- Single pendant light with one E27 fitting, supplied fully wired.
- Comes with a matching ceiling rose and 1.5m of black fabric cable, plus all the fixings needed to hang it.
- Takes an LED bulb only, 6W maximum, bought separately.
- Dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable LED bulb.
Where It Works Best
Hang it low over a kitchen island, or group two or three together along a worktop for even coverage. On its own, it suits a dining table, a hallway, or a living room where you want a single, characterful drop rather than a row of downlights.
From The Anvil
From The Anvil started in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand itself launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business later moved to Llandrindod Wells in Powys and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later on, made at the same Welsh workshop, and this copper Brindley shade carries that same hand finished approach through to its Soot coat.

- What bulb does this pendant take? It takes an E27 LED bulb rated at 6W maximum, which is not included and needs to be bought separately.
- Can I dim this light? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable LED bulb, since the fitting itself is dimmable when paired with one.
- What is the shade made from? The shade is hand spun from solid copper and then finished in Soot, a dark grey gloss coat, with the copper visible around the interior rim.
