A Bold, Contemporary Take on a Classic Dome

The Brindley pendant is a single hand spun ceiling light with the same rounded, classic dome shape as the rest of the Brindley range. In Elan Black, that shape is given a deep matte black exterior rather than left in bare metal, giving it a sharper, more contemporary look that suits a modern kitchen or dining space just as easily as a period one.

Each dome is spun from a single sheet of solid copper at From The Anvil's workshop, then finished in Elan Black, a deep matte black that covers the outer surface. The rim of the shade is left in bare copper, so a narrow band of warm metal shows through where the black finish meets the white interior. Once lit, that white interior throws a clean, even pool of light downward, while the copper trim catches a little warmth at the edge.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil started in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware that still hand forges steel and hot forges brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. This Elan Black Brindley pendant is spun from that same hot forged copper and finished by hand at the Welsh workshop, its black coating and copper trim both applied rather than printed on.
