A Wide Cone Silhouette in Black and Nickel

The Hockley pendant takes a simple cone shaped shade and gives it real presence, flaring out to a wide 510mm rim so it reads as a strong single fitting rather than a small accent light. In this colourway the outside is finished in a deep matte Elan Black, while the inside is left in a bright, mirror smooth nickel, so the two finishes sit in direct contrast to each other.

The Smooth Nickel and Elan Black Finish

Like the rest of the Hockley range, this shade is hand spun from solid brass before it takes on its finish. The exterior is coated in a flat, matte Elan Black that swallows light rather than reflecting it, while the interior is polished to a smooth nickel shine that throws the light straight back down. Seen from below, the black rim gives way to a bright silver edge, a detail that only shows once the pendant is hung.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working with his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting joined the range later, made at the same Welsh workshop. This Hockley pendant's contrasting black and nickel finish is applied by hand there, shade by shade, rather than sprayed on as a single uniform coat.

• What is the difference between the inside and outside finish? The outside of the shade is coated in a flat, matte Elan Black, while the inside is polished to a bright, mirror smooth nickel finish that reflects light back down.
• Is this pendant dimmable? Yes, as long as it is fitted with a dimmable LED bulb. A standard, non dimmable bulb will not respond to a dimmer switch even if one is fitted.
