The Harborne pendant pairs a soft, warm grey exterior with a polished nickel interior, so it reads understated from across the room but throws a bright, reflective glow once it's switched on. It keeps the classic rounded dome shape of the wider Harborne range, with a stepped, tiered gallery at the neck that nods to old factory lighting.

Each Harborne is spun from a single sheet of solid brass, then finished in Bluff, a warm, taupe toned grey with a matte, powder like surface on the outside of the shade. Inside the dome, the brass is plated in smooth nickel and polished to a bright, almost mirror like shine, so the fitting shows a soft grey silhouette by day and a bright reflective glow once a bulb is fitted and switched on.

Where It Works Best

Because the nickel interior reflects light back down, the Harborne works well anywhere you want a bright, focused pool of light rather than a soft glow, over a kitchen island, above a dining table, or lighting a hallway on its own. Grouped in twos or threes at slightly staggered heights, the contrast between its grey exterior and bright interior also suits an open plan kitchen or living room.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when former metalwork teacher and joiner Mark Underhill bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Steel is still hand forged there today, and brass and copper are hot forged using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. The Harborne pendant belongs to that same lighting range, spun and plated by hand at the Welsh workshop rather than pressed out on a production line.

Questions People Ask

What does the Bluff finish look like in person?
Bluff is a warm, taupe toned grey with a matte finish on the outside of the shade. Inside, the same brass base is plated in polished nickel, so the shade shows warm grey from below and a bright, reflective nickel surface when you look up into it.

Is the Harborne pendant dimmable?
Yes, as long as it's fitted with a dimmable LED bulb. A non dimmable bulb won't respond to a dimmer switch even if the switch itself is compatible.

Can I hang it lower over a dining table?
Yes. It comes with 1.5m of black fabric cable, which a qualified electrician can shorten to set the exact drop needed over a table or island.

Why can't I return it once I've ordered?
Every Harborne pendant is made to order at From The Anvil's workshop in Wales rather than kept as ready made stock, so orders can't be returned once they're placed.
