A Flared Silhouette With a Bright Surprise Underneath

The Flora pendant is shaped around one sweeping, wave edged curve rather than a straight cone, so the rim ripples gently all the way round instead of running in a hard line. Look up at it from below and the shade opens into a wide, flower like spread, throwing its light out across the room rather than straight down in one beam.

Finished in Soot, a Dark Charcoal Grey

This version is spun from solid brass, plated in a smooth nickel finish, then painted on the outside in Soot, a deep charcoal grey with a flat, matte surface. Turn the shade over and the nickel plating is left bare underneath, so the inside stays bright and reflective even though the outside reads dark and understated. That contrast is what sends a warm pool of light down and out from beneath the shade once it's switched on.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop. This Flora pendant's nickel plating and Soot finish are both applied there by hand, one shade at a time, before it ever reaches a customer's ceiling.

• Backed by a 5 year warranty.
• Wipe the shade with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can mark the painted Soot finish.

Questions People Ask

• Is any nickel visible on the outside of this pendant? No. The Soot finish covers the whole outer face of the shade. The nickel plating only shows on the underside, which is left uncoated.
• Does the Flora pendant come with a bulb? No. It takes one LED bulb rated up to 6W with an E27 fitting, and bulbs are sold separately.
• Can this pendant be dimmed? Yes, as long as it's fitted with a compatible dimmable LED bulb. A standard, non dimmable bulb won't dim even on a dimmer circuit.
• Is there a matching wall light in the same finish? Yes. The Flora wall light is also available in Smooth Nickel with the Soot finish, so the two can be used together for a coordinated scheme.
