A Directional Wall Light With a Nickel Glow Inside

The Brindley wall light is a single dome shaped shade on an adjustable arm, so once it is fitted the light itself can be angled up, down or across the wall. This version pairs a dark exterior with a bright plated interior, so the beam it throws stays warm and reflective even though the outside reads much darker.

Finished in Smooth Nickel and Soot

The shade and arm are spun and cast from solid brass, then plated in a smooth nickel finish that stays polished silver on the inside of the shade and across both adjustment joints. The outer face of the shade, the arm and the wall plate are coated in Soot, a dark charcoal grey that sits in clear contrast to the bright nickel lining rather than blending into one tone.

Where It Works Best

Because the shade can be angled after fitting, the Brindley wall light works well in a hallway or stairwell where the beam needs to be redirected along a wall or down onto steps. It also suits either side of a bed as an adjustable reading light, or a living room where a single directional light is wanted rather than an overhead pendant.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware that still hand forges steel and hot forges brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting joined that range later, and this Brindley wall light's two toned finish is applied by hand at the same Welsh workshop, one piece at a time.
