A Directional Wall Light With a Mirror Bright Interior
The Brindley wall light throws a single adjustable beam from an arm you can swing and tilt to point exactly where the light is needed. This version pairs a matte Bluff grey exterior with a smooth nickel interior, so the shade looks quiet and understated from the front but throws back a bright, mirror like reflection once you look inside it or switch it on.
The Smooth Nickel and Bluff Finish
This Brindley is spun from solid brass, then plated inside the shade in a smooth, polished nickel rather than the hammered brass used elsewhere in the range. The outside of the shade, arm and wall rose are finished in Bluff, a warm taupe toned grey with a matte surface. Because the nickel lining is smooth rather than textured, it reflects cleanly rather than scattering the light, giving this fitting a sleeker, more contemporary look than the warmer hammered finishes in the same shape.
How It Works
- Wall mounted light with an adjustable arm, held by two nickel knuckle joints so the shade can be angled up, down or to the side.
- Supplied with a matching wall rose and all the fixings needed to hang it.
- Takes one LED bulb rated up to 6W with an E14 fitting, bulb not included.
- Dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable LED bulb.
- Shade measures 139mm in diameter and 124mm high, with a projection of 224mm from the wall. The wall rose measures 105mm in diameter and 20mm deep.
Where It Works Best
Because the arm can be angled, this wall light works well either side of a bed as a reading light, or along a hallway or staircase where a directional beam helps light the way. It also suits a dining room, living room or kitchen wherever a single adjustable light is wanted, and its cooler nickel and grey finish pairs naturally with the matching Brindley pendant in the same colourway for a coordinated scheme.
From The Anvil
From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working with his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of that range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop, and this Brindley's nickel plated shade and Bluff coating are finished there by hand rather than by machine.

Is the inside of the shade really nickel, not brass?
Yes. Underneath the Bluff grey exterior, this Brindley is plated in smooth nickel rather than the hammered brass used on other finishes in the range, which is what gives it a brighter, more mirror like reflection.
Can the Brindley wall light be angled once it's fitted?
Yes. The arm moves on two nickel knuckle joints, so the shade can be tilted or turned to aim the light where it's needed.
Is this wall light dimmable?
Yes, as long as it's fitted with a dimmable LED bulb. A standard, non dimmable bulb won't respond to a dimmer switch even if one is fitted.

Each one is made to order at From The Anvil's Welsh workshop rather than held as ready made stock, so orders can't be returned once placed.
