A Dome Shade With Real Presence

The Brindley pendant is a simple spun dome shade, styled after old factory lighting. It hangs well on its own, or grouped with others above a run of worktop. Light falls straight down from the open base, so it works hard as well as looking good.

The Smooth Nickel and Flock Finish

This shade is spun from solid brass, then plated in smooth nickel. The outside is finished in Flock, a chalky matt white with a soft, slightly powdery feel rather than a hard gloss. Inside, the nickel is left bright and polished, so it throws a flash of shine every time you look up into the shade. The lampholder above it is left in a dark, aged tone that stands out neatly against the white body.

How It Works

• Single pendant light with one E27 fitting.
• Supplied with a matching ceiling rose, 120mm in diameter, plus all the fixings needed to hang it.
• Wired with 1.5m of black fabric cable, so the drop height can be set to suit your ceiling.
• Takes an LED bulb only, 6W maximum, E27 fitting. Bulb not included.
• Dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable LED bulb.

Where It Works Best

Hang it low over a kitchen island, where the nickel interior sends light straight down onto the worktop. It suits a dining table too, especially in twos or threes at slightly different drop heights. It also works well as a single light in a hallway or living room.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil began in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies. He began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business later moved to Llandrindod Wells in Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Lighting joined the range later on, still produced at the same Welsh workshop, hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. This Brindley pendant, with its spun brass shade, nickel plating and hand applied Flock finish, is a good example of that workshop approach carried through into a light built for everyday use.

Questions People Ask

• Can this pendant be dimmed? Yes, as long as it is fitted with a compatible dimmable LED bulb, since dimming depends on the bulb rather than the fitting itself.
• What bulb does it take? It takes an E27 LED bulb rated at 6W maximum, bought separately, and is not designed for halogen or incandescent bulbs.
• Can I hang more than one together? Yes, the drop height can be adjusted on each pendant, which makes it easy to group two or three above an island or table.
• Is the inside of the shade really nickel? Yes, the interior is left in polished nickel rather than painted, so it reflects light from the bulb back down into the room.
