A Sculptural Cone in Polished Copper

The Hockley pendant takes a simple cone shape and makes it something to look at twice. This version is spun from solid copper and finished smooth and polished, rather than the hammered texture some Hockley versions carry, so the surface catches light cleanly across its whole curve. Hang it low over a table and the wide, angled shade throws light out and down in equal measure, with a warm coppery glow visible inside the shade itself.

Smooth Copper Finish

Solid copper is spun into shape then polished to a bright, reflective finish. There is no lacquer trick here, it is the metal itself catching the light, so the surface will pick up a little warmth and character as it ages naturally over time. The inside of the shade keeps the same polished copper, which is what gives the light such a warm glow once a bulb is fitted.

Where It Works Best

Its scale suits a kitchen island or a dining table, where a single Hockley pendant can do the job on its own. Hung a little higher, it works just as well over a hallway console or lighting a living room seating area, and a cluster of two or three at staggered heights makes a strong statement over a bigger table.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business later moved to Llandrindod Wells in Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Lighting became part of the range later, still produced using the same hand forging and hot forging methods for steel, brass and copper. The Hockley's spun copper shade is made using that same hands on approach, at the same Welsh workshop.
