A Softer Take on a Factory Classic

The Harborne pendant takes the deep, rounded shape of an old factory light and gives it a softer, more considered finish. It is spun from a single piece of solid copper, so the dome has a smooth, seamless curve with no visible joins, and this Upstream version pairs a muted matte blue exterior with a bright, polished copper lining.

The outside of the shade is coated in a soft, muted blue with a matte, chalky texture, while the inside is left as bright, polished copper so it catches and reflects the light once the bulb is on. The ceiling rose is finished to match in the same blue, giving the whole fitting a calm, considered look from below and a warm coppery glow when it is lit.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business later relocated to Llandrindod Wells in Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. It still hand forges steel and hot forges brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering, and lighting became part of the range later, made at the same Welsh workshop. This Harborne pendant is shaped by that same hot forming copper work, spun and finished in Upstream blue at the Welsh workshop rather than pressed out somewhere else.
