The Frankley pendant is built around a bold, funnel shaped shade, a shape that gives it a striking, contemporary presence over any table or work surface. Its wide flare of metal opens generously at the base, throwing light downward while catching a warm gleam along its inner curve.
This one is finished in Elan Black on the outside, a deep matt black with a soft, almost powdery texture rather than a shine. Turn it over and the inside tells a different story: hand finished smooth copper, left to glow warmly once the light inside is switched on. The contrast between the matt black shell and the polished copper interior is the real character of this piece.
How It Works
- Dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable LED bulb.
- Takes one LED bulb only, E27 fitting, 6W maximum. Bulb not included.
- Supplied fully wired, complete with a matching ceiling rose and all the fixings needed to hang it.
- Fitted with 1m of black fabric covered cable as standard.
- Shade measures 412mm in diameter and 240mm in height. Ceiling rose measures 106mm in diameter.
Where It Works Best
The Frankley's generous spread of light suits a dining table well, hung low as a single statement piece. Group two or three side by side above a kitchen island for a bolder, more industrial look, especially in a darker or more contemporary scheme. It also works well as a single drop in a hallway, bedroom or living room, wherever a strong, sculptural shape is wanted.
From The Anvil
From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand itself launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business later relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering today. Lighting became part of the range later, made at the same Welsh workshop. Every Frankley pendant, including this Elan Black and copper version, is still shaped by that same hand forging process at the Welsh workshop today.
