Smooth Copper With a Teasel Finish

This version is hand forged in copper and bronze. The arm, wall plate and knuckle joint are left in a warm, polished copper, so the metal fittings catch light differently from the painted shade. The shade itself is finished in Teasel, a gentle, parchment toned off white with a hint of cream on the outside, while its underside is left in the same warm copper tone as the fittings. That lining means the light spilling from the bulb takes on a soft, golden cast rather than a flat white glare.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business later relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting joined the range later, made at the same Welsh workshop. The copper on this Flora wall light is shaped using those same hot forging methods, so every shade carries its own small variations in the curve of the petals.
