A Bold Directional Wall Light in Black and Copper

The Brindley wall light is built for directional lighting with real character. A slim swing arm lets you angle the shade exactly where you need it, whether that is throwing light up a hallway wall or down onto a reading chair. The Elan Black finish gives the shade a strong, graphic look, while the copper beneath shows through at every joint and along the inner rim of the shade.

This Brindley is hand forged from solid copper, then finished in a deep matt Elan Black on the outer shade and wall rose. The knuckle joints at the wall plate and shade are left in polished copper, so the warmth of the metal shows through against the black paint. Inside the shade, the copper is left unpainted too, reflecting a warm glow back into the room once the bulb is lit.

Where It Works Best

From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. That same hot forging process shapes the solid copper in this Brindley shade, before it is finished by hand in Elan Black at the Welsh workshop.

• Can I angle the shade after it is fitted? Yes. The swing arm has two knuckle joints, so the shade can be tilted and turned to point the light where you want it.
• What bulb does this wall light take? It takes one E14 bulb, up to 6W LED. A bulb is not included, so you will need to buy one separately.
• Will the copper detail tarnish over time? The copper on the joints and shade lining is left unlacquered, so it may develop a natural patina with age, the same way any solid copper piece would.
• Is this light dimmable? It is dimmable, provided you fit a dimmable LED bulb and use it with a compatible dimmer switch.
