A Brindley Pendant with a Splash of Colour

The Brindley pendant is one of From The Anvil's signature dome shaped lights, and this version brings something different to the range. Instead of a plain metal finish, the shade is painted in Upstream, a rich river toned blue, with the natural copper left exposed inside the rim. The contrast gives the pendant real presence, whether it hangs alone or in a row.

Solid Copper, Painted in Upstream Blue

Underneath the colour, this pendant is spun from solid copper. The blue paint covers the outer dome in a smooth, even coat, while the inner curve of the shade is left in its natural copper, polished to a warm shine. That copper lining reflects the light back down and gives off a warm glow, so it pairs well with a cooler or brighter bulb if you want to balance the tone.

Where It Works Best

This is a light for rooms where you want a bit of colour as well as light. Hang it over a kitchen island in twos or threes at slightly different drop heights, use a single one over a dining table, or hang it in a hallway where the blue can stand out against a plain wall. It also suits a living room, especially if the blue picks up on another colour already in the space.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil began in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and started hand forging his own hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand itself launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business later moved to Llandrindod Wells in Powys and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside more modern engineering. Lighting came later, made at the same Welsh workshop, and this Brindley pendant is spun from that same solid copper the company has worked with for years, just finished here in a colour rather than left bare.
