A Dome Shade With Its Own Quiet Presence

The Brindley pendant takes a classic dome shade and gives it two very different faces. On the outside it is a soft, matte soot grey, almost charcoal in some light. Tip it up and the inside is bright polished copper, catching and throwing back every bit of light from the bulb. It is a small pendant with a strong personality, just as happy hung on its own over a table as it is grouped with others.

Smooth Copper In A Soot Finish

This version is spun from solid copper with a smooth surface, then finished in Soot, a dark grey that can read almost black depending on the light around it. The outer shell is flat and matte, so the colour does all the work rather than any texture or pattern. Inside, the copper is left bright and polished, giving off a warm coppery glow once the bulb is lit. That contrast between the flat grey outside and the bright copper inside is the whole point of this finish.

Where It Works Best

Because it can be hung at different drop heights, the Brindley works well on its own over a dining table, or in a cluster of two or three above a kitchen island. Its dark, matte shell suits kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms, and it also makes a striking single pendant in a hallway.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil began in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and started hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand itself launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business later moved to Llandrindod Wells in Powys, where it grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. This pendant's solid copper shade is made at that same Welsh workshop, using the metalworking skills the brand was built on.
