This single Brindley pendant takes the range's classic rounded dome and dresses it in Slate, a mid grey finish laid over the copper beneath. It gives the familiar Brindley shape a cooler, more contemporary look while keeping a flash of warm copper visible inside the shade.

The Slate Finish on Copper

Every Brindley shade starts as a single sheet of solid copper, spun into its rounded form and polished bright on the inside. The outside is then coated in Slate, a flat, mid grey tone that reads as a neutral grey in most light. Look up into the shade and the polished copper interior still shows through, so the warmth of the metal isn't lost, just balanced by the cooler colour on top.

Where It Works Best

Because the drop can be adjusted, this pendant works just as well hung singly over a dining table as it does grouped in twos or threes above a kitchen island. Its Slate finish suits a kitchen, dining room or living room that's already working with grey or cooler tones, and it hangs equally well in a hallway where a single strong pendant is wanted.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil began in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and started hand forging his own hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. It still hand forges steel and hot forges brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering, and lighting became part of the range later, made at the same Welsh workshop. This Slate finished Brindley is spun and coated by hand there, one more variation on a shape the workshop has been making since lighting joined the range.

Questions People Ask

Is the Slate finish grey or does it show much copper?
It's a flat, mid grey coating over the copper shade, so the outside reads as grey. The polished copper interior is still visible inside the shade when lit.

Is this pendant dimmable?
Yes, as long as it's fitted with a dimmable LED bulb. A non dimmable bulb won't allow the light to be dimmed even with a compatible dimmer switch.

Does it come with a bulb?
No, bulbs are sold separately. It takes one LED bulb with an E27 base, rated at 6W maximum.

Why is this pendant non returnable?
Each one is made to order at From The Anvil's Welsh workshop rather than held as ready made stock, so orders can't be returned once placed.
