A Softer Take on the Brindley Pendant

The Brindley is one of From The Anvil's best known dome shaped pendants, and this version dresses it in Flock, a chalky matt white that calms down its industrial shape. Look up inside the shade and you find the shape has kept its polished copper lining, so light still spills out with a warm, coppery glow even though the outer shell now reads as pale and quiet.

Smooth Copper in a Flock Finish

Underneath the paint this pendant is spun from solid copper, not a copper effect coating over another metal. The Flock finish is applied to the outside of the shade only, giving it a smooth, chalky matt white surface with a slightly softened edge rather than a hard gloss. The inside is left as bare polished copper, so once a bulb is fitted the light reflects down through that rosy copper interior before it reaches the room.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells in Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Steel is still hand forged and brass and copper still hot forged there using traditional methods alongside modern engineering, and it is that same hot forging process that shapes the solid copper shade of this Brindley pendant before its Flock coat is applied.
