From The Anvil Smooth Copper Brindley Pendant - Elan Black

The Smooth Copper Brindley Pendant in Elan Black pairs a bold matte black exterior with a polished copper interior, so the dome reads as a graphic black shade until it is switched on and the copper glow shows through. It is a single pendant, spun from solid copper and part of the Brindley family of dome pendants.

The outer surface is finished in a deep matte Elan Black paint, smooth to the touch with no hammered texture, while the inside of the shade is left as bright polished copper. That contrast is the whole point of this finish: a graphic, contemporary black form on the outside, and a warm coppery glow thrown down and out once the bulb is lit.

Where It Works Best

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop.

This Brindley pendant is spun from that same solid copper stock and finished by hand at the Llandrindod Wells workshop, with the black paintwork and the bright copper interior both applied on site.
