This single Brindley pendant is spun from solid copper, then finished on the outside in a soft, pale grey Birch coat that gives it a calm, contemporary look from most angles. Tip your head back and the story changes. The inside of the shade is left in bright, polished copper, so the light spilling out has real warmth to it.

The Birch Finish

Birch is a smooth, matte pale grey applied over the solid copper shade, sitting quietly against a panelled or plain wall rather than drawing attention to itself. The polished copper lining inside is untouched by the paint, so once a bulb is on, the warm copper glow contrasts with the cool grey exterior. Because that glow already leans warm, it is worth pairing with a cooler or brighter LED bulb to balance it out.

Where It Works Best

Because the drop can be adjusted, this pendant works just as well hung singly over a dining table as it does grouped in twos or threes above a kitchen island. From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working with his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop. The polished copper inside this Birch pendant is a direct result of that hot forging process, spun and finished by hand before the pale grey coat goes on.

Questions People Ask

Is this pendant dimmable?
Yes, as long as it's fitted with a compatible dimmable LED bulb. A non dimmable bulb will not respond to a dimmer switch even if one is fitted.

Does it come with a bulb?
No, bulbs are sold separately. It takes one LED bulb rated up to 6W with an E27 fitting.

Is the inside of the shade painted the same pale grey as the outside?
No. The Birch finish is only on the outside. The inside of the shade is left in bright, polished copper.

Can I hang more than one together?
Yes. Because the drop height can be set using the 1.5m of black fabric cable, it's easy to hang two or three at slightly different lengths above a kitchen island or dining table.
