The Hockley pendant has a bold, cone shaped silhouette that works just as well as a single striking fitting as it does grouped together in a cluster. This version pairs a deep matt Elan Black exterior with a smooth brass interior, so the sculptural shape stays the same while the finish adds a warm, contrasting glow once it is switched on.

The shade itself is made from solid brass, hand finished in matt Elan Black on the outside and left smooth and polished within. When a bulb is fitted, that brass interior catches and reflects the light, throwing a soft golden glow out from beneath the black exterior. It hangs from a matching black ceiling rose on 1.5m of black fabric cable, so the fixing stays understated and the shade does the talking.

The Hockley's hand finished brass shade and hot forged detailing carry the same craft this brand was built on. From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working with his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop.
