A Polished Smooth Brass Finish

This version of the Hockley is worked to a smooth, glossy brass surface rather than a hammered or textured one, so the metal reads as clean and continuous with no visible tool marks. The warm gold tone of solid brass is left uncoated, and the polished interior throws the light from the bulb back down and outward, giving a soft, glowing pool of light rather than a hard beam.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Steel is still hand forged there today, and brass and copper are hot forged using traditional methods alongside modern engineering, lighting having joined the range later as an extension of that same workshop. This smooth brass Hockley pendant is shaped and polished by that same Welsh workshop, using the hot forging process that gives their brass pieces their weight and warmth.
