The Harborne pendant keeps the deep, rounded dome that has always made it a favourite over kitchen islands and dining tables. This one swaps the usual metallic shine for a soft, matte colour, so it reads more like a piece of considered lighting than a factory fitting.

Smooth Brass in Upstream Blue

The shade is cast in solid brass, then hand finished outside in a matte, river toned blue called Upstream. Inside, the brass is left bright and polished, so once the bulb is lit the glow bounces warm and golden against the flat blue exterior. The ceiling rose is painted in the same Upstream blue, so the cable, rose and shade all read as one finished piece rather than three separate parts.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop. The Upstream blue finish on this Harborne pendant is applied by hand at that same workshop, over a shade that starts life as solid cast brass.
