The Harborne pendant has a rounded, faintly industrial dome shape that suits a farmhouse kitchen just as well as a smarter dining room. This version pairs a dark Soot exterior with a polished brass interior, so the shade reads as understated from across the room but glows warm gold the moment it is switched on.

The Soot Finish

Soot is a matte, dark grey coating over solid brass, giving the outside of the shade a quiet, contemporary look rather than a bright metallic one. Turn it over and the story changes completely. The inside is left in smooth, polished brass, so light bounces off a warm gold surface and spreads a soft glow below the shade.

• Supplied fully wired with a matching ceiling rose, 1.5m of black fabric cable and all necessary fixings.
• Takes one LED E27 bulb, 6W maximum, bought separately.
• Dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable LED bulb.

Where It Works Best

From The Anvil

From The Anvil began in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and started hand forging his own hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells in Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Steel is still hand forged and brass and copper still hot forged using traditional methods alongside modern engineering, and that same Welsh workshop is where pendants like the Harborne are made. The dark, hand finished Soot coating on this pendant sits comfortably within that hand forged tradition.
