Smooth Brass in a Bluff Grey Finish

This version pairs a smooth, unribbed brass shade with a matte Bluff grey exterior coat. The grey leans warm rather than cool, closer to a stone or taupe tone than a true grey, so it settles well against oak, cream or off white schemes. Turn the shade over and the interior is left in bare polished brass, which catches and reflects the light rather than absorbing it, giving the pendant a warm golden glow once lit.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand itself launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business later relocated to Llandrindod Wells in Powys and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later on, produced at the same Welsh workshop. The Harborne pendant carries that same hot forged brass through to its lining, shaped by hand rather than stamped out by machine.

• Is the inside of the shade really brass, or just brass coloured? It is solid brass. The Bluff grey coating sits on the outside only, so the interior stays bare polished brass.
• Can I fit a dimmer switch to this pendant? Yes, as long as you use a compatible dimmable LED bulb. Without one, the fitting will not dim even on a dimmer circuit.
• How long is the cable and can it be shortened? It comes with 1.5m of black fabric cable as standard, which an electrician can shorten to suit your ceiling height during installation.
• Will this pendant work as a single light over a small table? Yes. At 400mm across, it is sized to work well as a single fitting over a dining table as well as in multiples above a kitchen island.
