A Wide, Wave Edged Silhouette in Soot
The Flora pendant takes its name from the soft, flower like curve of its shade, spun from a single sheet of solid brass into a wide, scalloped silhouette. Hung on its own above a table or in a corner, it reads less like a single light fitting and more like an open flower caught mid bloom.
The Soot Finish
The outside of the shade is finished in Soot, a dark charcoal grey that sits flat and matte across the brass. Switch it on and the effect flips. Inside, the brass is left polished and untreated, so the light spills out through a warm, mirrored surface even though the outside reads almost black.
How It Works
- Single pendant light with one wide, wave edged shade, supplied fully wired with a matching ceiling rose and all the fixings needed to hang it.
- Comes with 1m of black fabric cable as standard.
- Shade measures 500mm in diameter and 146mm high. Ceiling rose measures 106mm in diameter and 20mm deep.
- Takes one LED bulb rated up to 6W with an E27 fitting, bulb not included.
- Dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable LED bulb.
Where It Works Best
Because the shade throws light wide rather than down in a narrow beam, it works well hung low over a kitchen island or dining table, where the spread covers the whole surface rather than one spot. It also suits a bedroom, living room or hallway wherever a single striking pendant is wanted, and pairs naturally with the matching Flora wall light in the same Soot finish for a coordinated scheme.
From The Anvil
From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop, and this Flora pendant's shade is spun and finished there by hand, its Soot exterior applied over the polished brass rather than replacing it.

Does any brass show through the Soot finish?
Yes. The Soot colour covers only the outside of the shade, so the inside stays polished brass and shows as a warm gold ring once the pendant is lit.
Is this pendant dimmable?
Yes, as long as it's fitted with a dimmable LED bulb. A standard, non dimmable bulb won't allow the light to be dimmed even with a compatible dimmer switch fitted.
Can I hang a matching light alongside this pendant?
