A Directional Wall Light With Real Character

The Brindley wall light has a spotlight shaped shade on a fully adjustable arm, so you can angle the light exactly where you need it. This version is finished in Soot, a deep charcoal grey that gives the fitting a bold, modern edge while the brass hardware keeps it warm.

Smooth Brass in a Soot Finish

The shade and arm are made from solid brass, then finished in matte Soot on the outer surfaces. The rim and interior of the shade are left in polished brass, so when the light is on, the beam is warmed by the glow bouncing off the brass lining. The knuckle joints and wing screws that let you angle the arm are also finished in bright brass, adding a bit of shine against the dark grey body.

How It Works

• Fully adjustable arm with a knuckle joint at the wall rose and another where the arm meets the shade, so the head can be angled up, down or to the side.
• Takes one 6W max LED bulb with an E14 fitting (bulb not supplied).
• Dimmable when paired with a dimmable LED bulb.
• Shade measures 139mm in diameter and 124mm high, with a 224mm projection from the wall. The circular wall rose is 105mm in diameter and 20mm deep.

Where It Works Best

Because you can angle the shade, this light works well anywhere you want a focused beam rather than general room lighting: either side of a bed for reading, along a hallway or staircase to mark the way, or flanking a fireplace or armchair in a living room. From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop. The Brindley wall light's brass fittings are shaped using those same hot forging methods, so the knuckle joints and rose carry the same craftsmanship as From The Anvil's ironmongery.

• Can I angle the wall light after it's fitted? Yes, the arm has two knuckle joints, one at the wall rose and one at the shade, so you can adjust the angle to direct the light where you want it.
• What bulb does it take? It takes one E14 bulb rated up to 6W LED. The bulb is not included.
• Can I use it with a dimmer switch? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable LED bulb.
