A Directional Wall Light With a Softer Finish

The Brindley wall light is built for reading corners and hallways where you want light aimed exactly where you need it. An adjustable arm lets the shade tilt up or down, so it works as a spotlight over a bed or a gentle wash of light along a landing. This version brings a lighter, more relaxed look to the range with its chalky white shade against warm brass.

The Flock Matt White Finish

The shade and arm are spun from solid brass, then coated in a Flock matt white finish with a soft, chalky texture rather than a hard gloss. The rim and the whole interior of the shade are left in polished brass, so once the bulb is on, the light bounces off that brass surface and comes out warm and golden rather than flat white. The wall rose keeps the same matt white coating, with a polished brass swivel joint where the arm meets the wall.

• Wall mounted on a matt white rose measuring 105mm in diameter and 20mm deep
• Shade measures 139mm in diameter and 124mm high, projecting 224mm out from the wall

• Dimmable, as long as you fit dimmable bulbs and use it with a compatible dimmer switch

Where It Works Best

Its adjustable head makes it a natural fit for hallways and staircases, where you want to angle light along a wall rather than straight down. It also works well either side of a bed as an angled reading light, or in a living room or dining room where you want a directional accent rather than flat overhead light. From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting came later, made at the same Welsh workshop, and the Brindley wall light's brass shade and hand applied Flock finish are shaped there today.
