A Directional Wall Light With a Bold Contrast Finish
The Brindley wall light is a single hand spun light in solid brass, built on an articulated arm so it can be angled to point light exactly where it's needed. In this version, the domed shade is dressed in a deep matt black exterior, giving the classic Brindley shape a bolder, more graphic look than its brass or copper siblings.
Finished in Elan Black
Elan Black is a smooth matt black finish applied over the solid brass shade, so the domed exterior reads flat and dark from most angles. The rim and interior are left in polished brass, and once the light is on, that brass lining glows warmly through the opening, giving a strong contrast between the dark shell and the light it throws.
How It Works
- Single wall light with a domed shade measuring 139mm in diameter and 124mm high, with a projection of 224mm out from the wall.
- The arm pivots on two brass wing nut joints, one at the wall plate and one at the shade, so the angle of the light can be adjusted.
- Fixes to a matching wall plate measuring 105mm in diameter and 20mm deep.
- Takes one LED bulb rated up to 6W maximum with an E14 fitting, bulb not included.
- Dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable LED bulb.
Where It Works Best
Its adjustable, directional shape suits a hallway or staircase, where a single wall light can angle its beam without needing a central fitting, and it works well in pairs, either side of a bed. From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working with his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. This Brindley wall light keeps that same hand spun brass shape, with its bold black finish and brass joints shaped and fitted by hand at the same Welsh workshop.

- Keep the finish looking its best with an occasional wipe from a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can wear through the black coating.

Is the Brindley wall light dimmable?
Yes, as long as it's fitted with a dimmable LED bulb. A standard, non dimmable bulb won't allow the light to be dimmed even with a compatible dimmer switch.
What bulb does it take?
One LED bulb rated up to 6W maximum with an E14 fitting, sold separately.
Can the angle of the light be adjusted after it's fitted?
Yes. The arm has two brass wing nut joints, one at the wall plate and one at the shade, so the direction of the light can be set and changed.
Why is this wall light non returnable?
Each one is made to order at From The Anvil's Welsh workshop rather than held as ready made stock, so orders can't be returned once placed.
