The Brindley wall light is built for anyone who wants to point their light exactly where they need it. A slim brass arm extends from a circular wall plate to a conical shade, and both joints turn on a brass wing nut fitting, so you can angle the light up, down or across a wall without any tools.

Dusk: A Deep, Moody Finish

This version pairs a solid brass frame with a Dusk finish, a dark blue grey powder coating with a fine, slightly textured surface. The colour sits somewhere between navy and charcoal depending on the light in the room. Inside the shade, the brass is left polished and uncoated, so it catches the bulb's glow and throws a warm, golden light down the wall.

How It Works

• The arm and shade both pivot on brass wing nut joints, so the light can be angled by hand and locked in place.
• Takes one 6W max LED bulb with an E14 fitting. The bulb is not included.
• Works with a dimmer switch as long as a dimmable LED bulb is fitted.
• The circular wall plate measures 105mm across and mounts flush to the wall.

Where It Works Best

Its narrow profile and adjustable head make it a natural fit for hallways and staircases, where you want light aimed at a step or a piece of art rather than flooding the whole space. It also works well either side of a bed as a reading light, or in a living room or dining room where a pair either side of a chimney breast adds a bit of symmetry.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells in Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Lighting became part of the range later, and pieces like this Brindley wall light are still hand forged in steel and hot forged in brass and copper at the same Welsh workshop, using traditional methods alongside modern engineering.

• Can I angle the shade after it's fitted? Yes. Both the arm and the shade turn on brass wing nut joints, so you can loosen them, point the light where you want it, and tighten it back up by hand.
